RESPONDING TO OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST IN NEED

“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:12

Gulf Coast ResponseMembers from Christ Lutheran church have responded to the needs of the people of Mississippi whose homes were destroyed by the winds and waters of Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005. Early in 2006 two members joined a CORE team to begin with the clean up. Again in the fall of 2006 a huge team from Christ Lutheran Church worked out of Camp Victor Ministries facility to help clean and rebuild homes. At that time several members also helped in the distribution center providing food and home making needs to those people who were left without anything after the waters receded. In 2007, fifteen of us worked on dry wall and rebuilding a damaged home. The owner had become very discouraged during the two years of waiting. She was overjoyed with the work we had accomplished in a week and said that she again felt that God loved her. Mission trips are about relationships with those who need our help. Our fourth trip is planned for the fall of 2008.

Below are some photos depicting the work carried out by the Christ Lutheran team:
