Members
from Christ Lutheran church have responded to the needs of the people of
Mississippi whose homes were destroyed by the winds and waters of
Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005. Early in 2006 two members joined a
CORE team to begin with the clean up. Again in the fall of 2006 a huge
team from Christ Lutheran Church worked out of Camp Victor Ministries
facility to help clean and rebuild homes. At that time several members
also helped in the distribution center providing food and home making
needs to those people who were left without anything after the waters
receded. In 2007, fifteen of us worked on dry wall and rebuilding a
damaged home. The owner had become very discouraged during the two years
of waiting. She was overjoyed with the work we had accomplished in a
week and said that she again felt that God loved her. Mission trips are
about relationships with those who need our help. Our fourth trip is
planned for the fall of 2008.
