The Finance Committee manages the yearly finances of the church including preparing the budget, reporting all income and expenses, paying the bills and ensuring adherence to the approved budget.
The committee reports to the Congregation via the Congregation Council. The chair of the committee is elected by the Congregation, attends all called meetings of the Council and prepares monthly reports to Council, finance articles for the Life Lines newsletter and an annul report to the Congregation.
Some members of the Finance Committee are recruited by its chair and include the Financial Secretary, Bookkeeper, Payroll Processor, Head Teller and others as needed. The Treasurer is also a member and is elected by the Congregation. Ex officio members are the Pastor and Council President.
In the fall, the Finance Committee chair calls together and leads an ad hoc Budget Committee consisting of the Treasurer and Council President. This committee prepares a proposal for the following year’s budget to be presented no later than the November Council meeting.
