It is CLC’s turn to host this service for the Fairfield Glade Council of Churches. We need a two-person crew to bring the keyboard and set it up at 5:00 a.m. and to remove the keyboard once the service is complete. We also need four ushers. Please see the Volunteers Bulletin Board for a sign-up sheet.

EASTER CELEBRATION Sunday, April 8, 2012 - 8:00 & 10:30 a.m.

LADIES OF CLC - Come join the Women of the ELCA (WELCA) at their regular February meeting, Wednesday the 8th at 12:30 p.m. We will share a bowl of soup and some yummy breads and enjoy fellowship with our sisters-in-Christ. Our program topic will be "Broken Hearts - The Many Faces of Grief". What does grief look like? It comes in such a variety of colors and hues, and it wears many faces. Grief is more a part of life than many of us realize -- since loss is such a frequent life-companion. Grayce Tyszko will be our program presenter. No sign up needed, just come for soup, fellowship and a bit of learning about “Broken Hearts.”

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

Neighbors Together gave us the names of fifteen children, ages infant to nine years old, along with a needed and a wish list for each. Christ Lutheran shoppers purchased Christmas gifts for those fifteen children and we are confident that they were well received.

The Barrel Ministry for the month of February will be collecting for the “HOUSE OF HOPE.” Their needs are for non-perishable food items: canned vegetables, canned fruits, spaghetti sauce and noodles, peanut butter, jellies & jams, macaroni & cheese, rice, instant mashed potatoes, and canned meats; snack items for the kids: soups, canned pastas, juice boxes, and fruit cups; baby items: diapers sizes 1-5, baby wipes, and baby bath wash; personal items: deodorants, shampoo and conditioners, lice kits, hair brushes, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent, Lysol spray, hand soap, and dishwasher detergent.

The meal for the Bread of Life Mission is scheduled for Sunday February 12, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. The sign-up sheet is on the Service Bulletin Board and two volunteers are necessary to be the servers at the mission and of course others are needed to prepare and supply the food for the meal. Please have the food delivered to the church by 10:00 the morning of the meal. Can you think of a better way to serve your fellow men and women than by furnishing the food to nourish their bodies?

The Service Committee would like to expand their members, so they can bring to it new ideas on serving those in our community. Please consider and search your heart, as this committee is one that will warm your heart.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A TELLER? If so, please sign up on the sheet on the Volunteers Bulletin Board.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING will take place on Sunday, February 12, during Coffee Hour.

FUTURE MEMBERS - For anyone interested in becoming a member of Christ Lutheran Church, there is a sign-up sheet on the Activities Bulletin Board to meet with Pastor Jenny. She will be available to meet with you on Sunday, February 5, at 11:15 a.m., or Sunday, February 19, at 11:15 a.m.

CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH MEN'S CLUB - Second Annual trip to see the Knoxville Ice Bearsplay hockey is scheduled. It will be on the second Thursday in February - the 9th. We will meet at the church on that date by 2:45 p.m. and plan on leaving at 3:00 p.m. for sure.

The Fairfield Glade buses ARE NOT available, therefore we will have to car pool. On the sign-up sheet is a column for those going that have a van and would be willing to drive. Please note in that column how many, excluding the driver, that you can handle.

Our dinner stop will be at the Chop House on Kingston Pike. Getting there at 5:30 p.m. we will be eating in a banquet room a' la carte off the "Early Bird Menu" which is available for viewing beside the sign-up sheet. Then on to the arena on Howard Baker Drive for the game against the Fayetteville FireAntz. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.

The cost of $36 per person will cover the meal and tip, game ticket and gas money for the drivers. Make checks payable to: Christ Lutheran Church Men's Club and place in the folder in the church office. We will make it similar to our Annual Baseball trip so spouses/friends are welcome. Our only restriction is that the banquet room can only handle forty people. The sign-up sheet and menu are located on the Activities Bulletin Board. Contact Ed Litman at 456-8974 if you have any questions.

JUST A REMINDER that the Small Group Study, “Listening for God,” is continuing on Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. through February 14. All are welcome to come join the group.

SMALL GROUP STUDY - There will be a small group Lenten Bible study beginning on Tuesday, February 28, at 1:00 p.m. The study will be Making Sense of the Cross by David J. Lose. This study invites readers to “listen in” on an open conversation about the cross. Throughout the conversation readers are encouraged to think about and experience the cross and its meaning for their lives. Please join us for this study. The cost of the study will be $10 per person to cover the cost of the book. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of the book by contacting Pastor Jenny. There is a sign-up sheet on the Education Bulletin Board. Sign up by February 19 so books can be ordered.

TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY from Deerfield, Illinois, will bring their Symphonic Band to our church on Friday, March 2.

Approximately 30 student musicians will present an evening concert at 7:00 p.m.

Do you have a guest room for two students?

Host homes must be able to provide transportation after the concert to your home, provide breakfast and a bag lunch; and bring the students back to the church on Saturday morning by 9:00 a.m.

If you can help with "room and board," please call Beverly Olin at 456-8196, or Phyllis Hubbard at 456-6702.

CLC FAMILY, I would like to extend my utmost thanks for your prayers, concerns, and visits during my recent hip replacement surgery and recovery. It has been tremendous. Dal Seaver

The CLC Praise Team invites you to come join us for the Praise Worship Service in in the new year on Saturday, January 28, at 5:00 p.m.

Come as you are and worship with us.

Please contact the Church Office if you know of someone in our church family who has had a death in their family, is sick, or is in the hospital.

REMINDER CLC has several different items in the medical closet to lend.

There is a list posted on the Service Bulletin Board of congregation members who are willing to help with running errands, providing transportation to church or to appointments, caregiver relief, and handyman help.
